FAQ about 'abdalian' and 'abdaliansAll' last updated on 9th July 2006

I am totally confused, which group should I join?

Join 'abdalian@yahoogroups.com' only. You do not need to join any other group if you are an abdalian. This group is in safe hands now in terms of moderation as well as ownership.

What happened to abdaliansAll group?

This forum will become inactive from 20th July 2006. All abdalians are encouraged to join the old 'abdalian@yahoogroups.com' forum as the moderation and ownership control is back with credible abdalians again:

History:

This forum was created as a replacement for 'abdalian' yahoo group when it was hacked by some unknown individual. This group was supposed to serve as a properly moderated group only for abdalians where they can network, share information and help each other. Everything on this group was supposed to be public, transparent and democratic for abdalians. Current moderators are Mohammed Ali (33rd L/W abdalian1@yahoo.com), Kamran Asghar(34th J/W kamranasgharshaikh@yahoo.com) and Bilal Wahid (34th J/W bilal_the_kid@yahoo.com). Since we got the control back from the 'unknown moderator' of old group, there is no need to keep two forums and have duplicate emails. Therefore it was decided to keep only one forum i.e. 'abdalian@yahoogroups.com' and make the new forum 'abdaliansAll@yahoogroups.com' inactive but also keep it as a backup. All the members from 'abdaliansAl@yahoogroups.com' will be moved to 'abdalian@yahoogroups.com' by 20th July 2006. New members are encouraged to apply only to 'abdalian@yahoogroups.com'. It will stay as our main forum until there is a necessity due to unforeseen reasons.

What is abdaliansAll?

This is a group created for the unity of abdalians everywhere. It is created as a replacement for old 'abdalian' yahoo group when it was hacked by some unknown individual. This group will serve as a properly moderated group only for abdalians where they can network, share information and help each other. Everything on this group will be public, transparent and democratic for abdalians. Current moderators are Mohammed Ali (33rd L/W abdalian1@yahoo.com), Kamran Asghar(34th J/W kamranasgharshaikh@yahoo.com) and Bilal Wahid (34th J/W bilal_the_kid@yahoo.com). Please specify full name, entry and wing for a membership request.

What was the need for creating a new group?

The old group 'abdalian' was created by Mr Engineer Jamil and later transferred to HOBA for moderation. It was an unmoderated group and with unrestricted membership which encouraged non-abdalians to join the group and send marketing emails. It was later hijacked by some unknown individual who became the moderator and started playing games with the group by blocking and filtering emails. None of the abdalians was able to identify him including Mr Engineer Jamil who admitted that he does not have control over the 'abdalian' group anymore. Some of the abdalians took the initiative to create a new group 'abdaliansAll' and port abdalians to this group so that they can really help each other instead of replying to junk emails and wasting energy in non-issues.

What is the proof that old 'abdalian' group was hijacked and is no more credible?

See history of old emails and moderation on abdalian moderator history

What will happen to old 'abdalian' yahoo group?

We will all try to get moderation rights back from the unknown moderator. There are only two outcomes possible 1) He/She gives the ownership rights to some credible and known abdalians or 2) He/She decides not to give up the owndership rights. In case 1, we will subscribe 'abdalian' group to 'abdaliansAll' group so that every body starts getting emails only once. In case 2, we already have established new group 'abdaliansAll' which is active and will stay active with proper and known moderators. Old 'abdalian' group is the main and active group now

Why do we need three moderators?

Almost every abdalian is successful and short of time. Each moderator can help whenever they have time as its voluntary. On the other hand, it's easy to coordinate among three moderators as compared to say 5 or 10 moderators. Similarly one man show leads to dictatorship and inflexibility to feedback. See policies for more details: abdaliansAll yahoogroup policies

I don't like the moderators and want to change them. What can I do?

I think I should stay with 'abdalian' old group and don't want to join the new group. Is it ok?

Now it's ok, it's the main group active now.
