Vision
- To have a single abdalian web group providing a platform where they can network, share ideas and help each other
Policies
1) Membership
- Only abdalians can join this group.
- Group membership is now moderated
- Moderators have the right to ban non-abdalians
2) Moderation
- There will always be at least two but no more than three moderators for this group.
- Moderators will not try to impose their own views on the group by unfairly using their admin rights
- Moderators will be decided with a majority vote whenever there is a need to replace them.
- Any abdalian can volunteer for moderation, provided he has the necessary experience and will to spend time.
- Any abdalian can raise a valid objection on other members but moderator's decision will be final
- Any abdalian can raise a valid objection on moderation but will need to get majority vote from other abdalians on this group for any action against moderator
- Moderators have the right to ask for a valid abdalian identification from any group member and members need to fully satisfy the moderators. Otherwise they will be banned for not providing enough information about their identity.
- Moderators cannot ban abdalians or moderate abdalian emails without a very valid reason (see section 'Email ethics' for valid reasons)
- Moderators will publish the policies from time to time as a friendly reminder
- Moderators shall ban emails for any political, religious or marketing organizations
- Majority abdalians decisions supersede moderator's decisions any moderator decision can be put to a poll test
- Moderators shall stay transparent to the abdalians on this group
- At least 3 warnings should be given to a member before banning a member.
- Members will not be banned or moderated because of their religious or political beliefs.
- Moderators shall make the poll results visible and transparent to members.
- Moderators should find ways to utilize other abdalian groups and sites.
3) Email ethics
- Members shall never use indecent, abusive or disrespectful language against a fellow abdalian whether a senior or a junior
- Group email shall not be used for personal issues against each other. Use direct private email or other channels like phone etc.
- Members have the right to forward any useful information they would like to share with other abdalians but it is always a better idea to write your own thoughts to complement it.
- Never write in bold or UPPERCASE letters unless you want to stress an important point. ALL UPPERCASE email is considered as shouting on someone.
- Member shall never forward pornographic emails.
- Never subscribe group email to political newsletters or other type of marketing tools.
- Moderators are also regular members and all email ethics rules apply to them.
- Reply to the same thread, without changing the subject, when discussing a topic unless there is a special need to change the subject of the email.
- Preferred emails are about sharing job opportunities, networking information, university admission procedures guidance, contacts in different departments and any help which can be provided to juniors or seniors.
- Always specify full name, wing and entry at the end of each email.
4) Policy changes
- Policy is considered final after considerable debate and majority vote
- Existing policies can only be changed through a majority vote.
- New policies can only be added through a majority vote as long as they don't contradict with any existing policy.
- All polls will be conducted through web only, not through email or other channels.
